Use and Users
Collections such as ours are designed to be used by children and their families. They may love a particular book or movie and it is the purpose of our collection to show that the book might have a popular movie adaptation or that the movie might be based on a classic of children’s/young adult literature. To have multiple series of books and include their respective movie adaptations along with them allows our users to sample two mediums in which the same story can be told and invites casual and friendly comparison. Such collections as ours are not often seen much these days, where different artistic manifestations of the same work are paired together on the same shelf in a library. We want to reassure our users that it doesn’t matter whether they read the book first or watch the movie first-either way, this collection is for them! We will also take user requests as to how we might expand our collection and a Book-to-Movie Adaptation Club will be enacted as well. It is our aim to foster a unique user experience that hopefully lets our patrons see how certain stories can have such a meaningful impact on readers; so meaningful, in fact, that it was deemed they must be brought to life.
